My hosting company disappeared!

My hosting company www.nwahosting.com has disappeared! No emails, no announcements, NOTHING! When I visit that domain I get a parked page! I had a DirectAdmin based hosting account with them, and I had over 10 domains hosted there. Not that they are great domains, they are low traffic sites anyway.

Strangely, the sites are still up and running! I performed a whois check to see the details of the domain. The domain has not expired, but it has been parked. I checked in Google for more information about the company, but there is very little information about them. I purchased a hosting account from them after seeing an special offer ad from www.webhostingtalk.com. I ran a search in that forum and came across some interesting stuff: The company has been acquired by another company.

May be all the accounts will be migrated to the new company soon. That is what I am expecting. However, I have signed up for a new VPS from www.mxhub.com. I am struggling with it right now. However, I am certain I will teach myself a thing or two about managing things by myself. I last time I had signed up for a VPS, it was a headache for me. And I had to cancel it after one month of misery!

Hope this doesn’t go that way…(Though, the symptoms are pointing to the same direction again!)

The MORAL of the STORY:

  • Always stick to bigger web hosting companies: Like Hostgator, etc. I was with hostgator for 1 year and I never had to open a single ticket. They would lay everything on the line for me!
  • Research like a PhD scholar while choosing a web hosting company

…And your life will be stronger and free!
